French Dakar Rally motorbike rider Eric Aubijoux probably died in a crash and was not a victim of a heart attack as first thought, organisers of the rally said.
In remarks to appear in Tuesday's edition of the Sud Ouest newspaper, rally organiser Gilbert Ysern said: "Today, we have new elements that leave us think that Eric was a crash victim.

"The first medical examinations revealed fractures and the local police have already gathered some evidence backing the premise of an accident," Ysern said.
Ysern said there had been no damage to the bike, which was found upright on its stand, and added that the statement announcing the Frenchman's death released on Saturday afternoon was based solely on initial medical observations.
Aubijoux became the second fatality of this year's Dakar Rally when he died on Saturday during the 14th stage between Tambacounda and Dakar.
A race spokesman said at the time that the 42-year-old died after stopping during the stage.
A statement added: "At 15km from the end of the stage, he came to a stop on his motorbike after feeling unwell. Victim of a cardiac arrest, he couldn't be
revived."
Aubijoux's partner Sylvie said she had never believed him to have died of a heart attack, having undergone a test before his departure for Senegal.
"He was in perfect health," she said, adding that Senegalese authorities
had garnered some evidence that pointed towards a crash with a road construction lorry.
