The session begun on a wet track but the tropical weather of Malaysia quicly dried out the track. Every riders could improve during the afternoon so this time sheet is the one of the second free practice session. Stoner was leader this morning, shortly ahead Pedrosa but he had to let his leadership to Randy De Puniet on the Kawasaki this afternoon. The french rider did a great performance on a track he likes, but this performance is also the reflec of a good shape of the Kawasaki and riders who are with Bridgestone. In fact only two riders with Michelin are in the Top 10. Marco Melandri is third, ahead Pedrosa (first Michelin rider) on the HRC Honda, fifth Anthony West on the second Kawasaki, then Toni Elias on the second Gresini Honda. Seventh of this session and its also a good surprise, Sylvain Guintoli manage to put his Yamaha Tech 3 Dunlop ahead the two Suzuki, Vermeulen leader ahead his team mate John Hopkins. At last to end the Top ten, Nicky Hayden on the second HRC Honda, and last rider on Michelin in the Top Ten.
For Fiat Yamaha, the two sessions were not so good. And the second was a bit of a disaster, Colin Edwards was only 14th and Valentino Rossi lied in a very disappointing 16th position at more than 3 seconds of De Puniet... No words can describe what they felt, just the images and signs, when they asked each other infos about what happened, Edwards answer by shruging his shoulders, and Rossi by shaking his head, then come the ultimate sign, as if someone cut his throat... The Yamaha is obviously not enough good...
Tomorrow will be another day...
