First day not so good for the weather. Cold, windy, and some rain falls... fortunately the sun was back as soon as MotoGP sessions begun, to provide riders a dry track.
Just titeled, and most of all at home, Casey Stoner is not pressure free. In fact the Ducati rider fell down this afternoon at the Honda Hairpin. A turn that also saw the fall of Chaz Davies before and where Alex Barros went wide. Some ooil on the track was suspected.
Second of this time sheet, Marco Melandri was able to take this position to Dani Pedrosa during the last minutes of the second session; when Stoner enteribng pits, on his feet... The lap of Melandri was 269 thousands of second slower than the best time of Stoner in FP2, but Casey made his best lap during FP1, he was also the only rider to not improve his lap time during the second session.
Valentino Rossi is the second Michelin rider of the time sheet, in fourth, behind Dani Pedrosa.
Fitfth of this session, Randy De Puniet was also the biggest challenger of Stoner, as the french rider was second this morning. The Kawasaki rider is ahead Alex Barros and Carlos Checa. Loris Capirossi is eighth and the top 10 is ended by Nicky Hayden and Anthony West.
