In the pain. That's how we can define the crowning of James Toseland.
Only two points on Haga, after two last races completely failed.
But Toseland is nevertheless crowned WSBK World Champion, its a nice thing to had at his CV before he goes to MotoGP championship next season.

At the begining of the season, James Toseland was soon named The Man to Beat. He has won more races than any other rider this year but will be seriously worried by his final contenders, Haga and Biaggi.

Troy Bayliss, the one that everybody told that he will be World Champion, made too many mistakes and was by the middle of the season, already off he game.

For Max Biaggi and Noriyuki Haga, the race for the title was a real aim until the last race. The final event at Magny Cours was really nice and seen the complete domination of Noriyuki Haga. The Yamaha rider made the double and finaly fail only at Two points from Toseland.

The other one, Max Biaggi, the Ialian Emperor with desires of a Diva had for his part « screwed up » all his weekend, and loses his runner up position at the championship.

So James Toseland is now Double World Superbike Champion. Young and talented he is now face with his biggest challenge : The World MotoGP championship.
Now read about his feelings in a small interviw made by Paul Defosseux, Journalist for the french press agency AFP :

James Toseland: "I want to win in MotoGP"

Q: You've just won your second world title with difficulties by losing 27 of the 29points of advance that you had before the first race. How that happened?
A: "This second title was very special.

From the start of the fiorst race, Lanzi went under me in the first corner. I've touched him and he roll like a snow ball in the gravel. Me, I manage to cross the gravel without fall. And I ignore that it was as big as that!...
My bike was like a plough digging the ground! So i dropped from the third to the last position (18e) and I made my way back up front step by step before take the wheel of Biaggi who was sixth. I could pass him but it was too dangerous. The second race, I manage to stay on my wheels and control my race without taking risks.

Magny Cours is a special track for me because I took my first title here in 2004 but its also a bad memoy as I finished the season in tears in 2005".

Q: You will ride in MotoGp next season, what do you expect?
A: "After seven years in WSBK championship, and two world titles, I think my job is done. I am 27, so I must do something else. Honda wanted to keep me in Superbike, but I want to see haw I can do in MotoGP.

I want to win over there".

Q: Why have you signed with the french team Yamaha Tech 3?
A: "My manager Roger Burnett kows well Hervé Poncharal. He made us meet by saying that it was the team that will allow me earn my spurs. I also saw some really nice guys in this team. I know that it will be difficult so its nice to have a good team. And I could not been hired directly by a factory team as I was from Superbike".

Q: Do you know your next team mate, Colin Edwards ?
A: "Yes, We were in the same team in Superbike, but not in the same class, I was in Supersport. He is a nice guy".

Q: When will you test the Yamaha YZR-M1 ?
A: "My firsts tests are scheduled for november 15th in Sepang (Malaysia).

I am really eager to be there, but I will take some rest before".

About www.motorcyclists-online.com English version:
At the beginning, in 2001, www.motorcyclists-online.com was an exclusive French Motorcycle website. Now, since September 2005, it has become bilingual: English speaking people are welcome !
We do believe, at www.motorcyclists-online.com, that linguistic boundaries are not a problem when we share the same passion for bikes.
We are currently working on translating all articles and contents, to finish the UK/US version. You will certainly notice some bugs or translation errors: please do not hesitate to advise us by e-mail, Private Message or by posting in the Forum. Your help is welcome !
For the moment, articles which haven’t been human translated are automatically machine translated, which I must confess is not really famous, but faster than human translators.
