The bomb was released during the last grand prix week end at Motegi in Japan.
The final decision will be make in less than one month at Sepang in Malaysia.

During all the 2007 season, and it is not finished, the main subject was tyre rule and Casey Stoner's domination...
Few time ago, Carmelo Ezpelata, DORNA president said that the 2007 tyre rule was a mistake. First created to stop Michelin domination due to their capacuity to bring the perfect tyre just before the race (by building it during the night) this rule was so efficient that it totaly rules out Michelin of the championship...
The mais problem of this rule was not the limitation of tyres, but the fact that riders were forced to choose the compound the day before the first practice session. So if a rider does not anticipate properly the track conditions, his race weekend is over from thursday night, even though he did not wear his suit...
So the races were one time dominated by one and some time by the other, but rarely balanced...
DORNA president has all the time he wanted to cry on his television audience reports (20% less than usual some times in Italy, it is a huge loss) and asked tyre suppliers to sit and discuss about some changes to the current rules in order to make that the competition between riders and bikes become more « balanced ». But Ezpelata was disappointed, the three manufacturers, Bridgestone, Michelin and Dunlop said that the current rule was OK and that no changes were necessary.
Bad deal for the DORNA, if 2008 is like 2007, their commercial contract will be cheaper.... they have to do something strong! So, why not ask for the one tyre supplier rule? An Carmelo Ezpelata did it!
For the moment its just a poposal, to see reactions of direct concerned, undirect and of course financial partners...
About the tyre manufacturers, Bridgestone, Michelin and Dunlop said a frank NO. But that did not stop Ezpelata who said that if the proposal is accepted, the invite of bids will be make during the Malaysian GP at Sepang.
So for the moment nothing is signed, but the shadow of the one tyre manufacturer rule is above the MotoGP championship... One thing is sure, Michelin will not b ...
