Fifth of the sixth event of the Endurance World Championship which took place on the Magny-Cours track during 24 hours.

This is the first victory of the Yamaha GMT 94 team directed by Cristophe Guyot. This is the end of the Suzuki dominating period of six victories for the last six races...
The spaniard and the two french riders could end up front the two Suzuki of the Suzuki Endurance Racing Team. The N°1, two times world champion take the 28 points of the second position and is sure now to take the world title, even before the last event, the 8 hours of Doha.
The N°2, last winner of the 24 hours of Le Mans is third and miss the double for the two most prestigious event of Endurance.
Christophe Guyot was convinced before the start that those last results here (2nd and 3rd ) were not « stick to his team » and that « the organisation and the value of the team GMT 94 were making him able to believe to the victory. »
But his chances could be compromised, saturday after two hours, when Olivier Four fell down, he lost two precious laps... But SERT too had some badluck. Saturday, the french rider Julien Da Costa fell down in the 154th lap when he was in first position. He lost 13 laps and finaly rejoined the race in the 36th position... Sunday Morning, they were in third position, when the N°2 Suzuki was catched and then overtook by the Yamaha in the 613th lap.
Many cases of badluck
After that the N°2 came off the track. The french rider Guillaume Dietrich lost the rear in a long corner and his bike was stopped in pits. So the N°1 finaly took the second position, and helped in the title race by the badluck of their direct contenders...
The official Kawasaki N°11, second at the world Championship, had to retire after a gear box problem Sunday just after 5h00 am.
The Swiss team Bolliger Kawasaki had also what we can call the biggest badluck weekend of the year. Half an hour before the end the Austrian Horst Saiger came off the pits and put the throttle too hard too soon. His bike started to make a wheelie and went hit the security rails. His front wheel was destroyed with one brake disc and the race directors said that it was forbidd ...
