Former world motorcycling champion Valentino Rossi is being investigated by Italian tax inspectors for suspected tax evasion, according to reports here on Wednesday.

Italy's tax agency are examining the 28-year-old for possible undeclared revenues of 60 million euros (82.8 million dollars) between 2000 to 2004.
The probe is linked to Rossi's decision in 2000 to transfer his residence to Britain to take advantage of favourable tax conditions.
A seven-time world champion Rossi is the only rider to have won the world title in four difference categories - 125cc, 250cc, 500cc and MotoGP.
