Tourist Trophy (Sony – Polyphony) was first available in early 2006, and I wanted to tell you about this game for a long time. Now, it's available at low price, and it's really worth the few bucks you'll have to spend.

There are few simulation oriented motorcycle video games. We got the very old and excellent MotoGP 500 (PC), and Superbike 2001 (PC) still supported by a small community of players. So, back in 2006, I was more than happy to test this games wich promised some simulation oriented gameplay, far from the arcade and boring MotoGp serie.
There is still an arcade mode in TT, but it's pointless. The game is powered by a modified Gran Turismo engine, and the game mechanics are derivated from Gran Turismo: you have to win some driving licence to unlock races that will unlock motorycles (a lot of motorcycles even if I missed some), accessories, and more race tracks. It's a motorcycle game, and what I want is motorcycles and race tracks. I don't care anything else.
The motorycle physic engine is good, but a little less than Superbike Riding Challenge(PS2, allready tested here) , and the 3D is very good for a PS2 (way better than SBR RC): nice tracks, detailled motorcycles models and physic, detailled rider animations. You can tweak you motorcycle set ups, change the rider clothes ad accessories, and also tweak the rider positions on the bike: a lot of trials and errors will be needed to make the beter laps times. There is just an annoying point about the simulation: first gears are loooooooonnnnng: for example, the GSX-R 750 needs 7seconds for reach 100km/h... very bad isn't it? I don't recall the GSX-R to be so slow ;)
Simulation handling? Let's ride: choose the pro setting for the pad, and you can adjust the rider position manually, use front and rear brake independently, and change gears manually. The inside view is simply sublime: a lot of sensations are very well reproduced as wind pressure, handle bar shakes, levers actions, and once again, the motorcyles 3D models are verydetailled. Too bad the dashboard doesn't work... There is also a rear view, but in my case, I spend to much time watching the nice animations for the rider and the suspensons, and my lap times are not that good. I really prefer inside view and then I watch the very nice replays. As a bonus, there is a photo ...
