But the motorycle never killed him. At least not directly.
He was suffering from diabetes and pulmonary fibrosis.
He also nearly died of hepatitis C, likely contracted through a blood transfusion after one of his many spills: he was cured with a liver transplant in 99. Not to mention two strokes a few years ago, and about forty bones broken because of his stunts...

The America’s Legendary Daredevil who formed in 1965 the EvelKnievel’s Motorcycle Daredevils troup was best know for some failed stunts:
- on New Year’s Day 1968 in Las Vegas, he was nearly killed (in coma for a month) after a crash while trying to jump 151 feet (46 meters) across the fountains in front of Caesar’s Palace.
- a failed attempt on September 8, 1974, to jump the Snake River Canyon in Idaho in a rocket–powered ’’Skycycle.’’
His parachute deployed after takeoff and the wind blew the bike into the canyon, landing him close to the swirling river below. His son Robbie Knievel successfully jumped this canyon in April 1989.

Evel Knievel retired after a serious injury in 1976.... he tried to jump a tank full of live sharks in the Chicago Amphitheater, and things went wrong...

Many of his records have been broken by daredevil motorcyclist Bubba Blackwell.

Rest in Peace crazy man. ...

About www.motorcyclists-online.com English version:
At the beginning, in 2001, www.motorcyclists-online.com was an exclusive French Motorcycle website. Now, since September 2005, it has become bilingual: English speaking people are welcome !
We do believe, at www.motorcyclists-online.com, that linguistic boundaries are not a problem when we share the same passion for bikes.
We are currently working on translating all articles and contents, to finish the UK/US version. You will certainly notice some bugs or translation errors: please do not hesitate to advise us by e-mail, Private Message or by posting in the Forum. Your help is welcome !
For the moment, articles which haven’t been human translated are automatically machine translated, which I must confess is not really famous, but faster than human translators.
