Helmet Test : AGV Ti-Tech
Printable Version Written: 03/04/2007 : 16:20. Read 55754 times (32/day).
The Ti-Tech helmet is the most advanced in the AGV helmet range, but it is also the helmet which Valentino Rossi wear during races... Valentino is a prestigious user but he can not make us forget some issues with the helmet.

The Look:
Aggressive, racing like, and full of little titanium aerodynamic appendices for the aeration.
4 good looking titanium air intakes in the front face ensure an efficient airing.

Technic:
The shell is made with carbon and Kevlar fiber.
Air vents are integrated in the shell. The titanium air intakes regulate the airflow.
The visor is flat and can be fitted with Tear-Offs (sold with the helmet) to pretend being a race rider...
The retention system is Double D.

First bad point? its wheight, 1490 gram (checked).

Life onboard :
The Ti-Tech features a totally removable and washable inside padding, made in « coolmax », very comfortable.
Like all racing helmets, it is a little tough to slip into or take it off: those who have sticking out ears will suffer, and the other... will soon have sticking out ears...
If you forgot this little defect, I have to say this helmet is very comfortable.

The alveolate inside paddings will last a long time.

When you are stopped, its OK, but when you start to ride... The noise comes... This helmet is a little noisy. The titanium air intakes, and the tear-off fastennings are guilty...
I took off these tear-off fastenings and most of the noise disappeared, but it is still a little noisy...
Dispite the noise, an advantage of the Titanium air intakes is their efficiency.

The ventilation is perfect and in the south of France, right under the summer sun (with a black Ti-Tech) I never had to say its too hot.

To avoid fog in the inside of the visor, AGV makes the "No Fog system", it is efficient and helped by a nose spoiler (cheap and weak, mine is almost dead after only one year).
AGV makes also a spoiler, wind saver for the chin, but it is not very useful and it is also cheap, less than the nose spoiler, but not magnificent at all.

Conclusion :
The AGV Ti-Tech is a very good helmet with some little defects.
Nevertheless it provides a very first class comfort.
The accessories are disappointing and AGV have to change it quickly, the noise level is also not as good as a tourer helmet.
The price/quality ratio is not the best but also not the worst.

Last word, I like this helmet, very much.

About www.motorcyclists-online.com English version:
At the beginning, in 2001, www.motorcyclists-online.com was an exclusive French Motorcycle website. Now, since September 2005, it has become bilingual: English speaking people are welcome !
We do believe, at www.motorcyclists-online.com, that linguistic boundaries are not a problem when we share the same passion for bikes.
We are currently working on translating all articles and contents, to finish the UK/US version. You will certainly notice some bugs or translation errors: please do not hesitate to advise us by e-mail, Private Message or by posting in the Forum. Your help is welcome !
For the moment, articles which haven’t been human translated are automatically machine translated, which I must confess is not really famous, but faster than human translators.
