The Yamaha XT250 is new for 2008, but the XT mission remains the same; « to get you as far out of town and into nature as you want to go. »
This new XT250 is what we can call a real versatile bike. For cool riding downtown and fun on gravel raods.

With its 250cc air cooled engine, power and torque will be just enough to fill your expectations for a do-it-all bike.

The new XT250 is built around the platform of the 250 Tricker, same chassis and engine but with a bigger fuel tank, wheels and seat. The Tricker was the bike for fun, the new XT250 is the same bike with more off road abilities.

FEATURES:

249cc, air-cooled, single over head cam (SOHC), 2-valve, 4-stroke single.

New 2-valve cylinder head design features the cam chain on the right side.

Straight design intake and exhaust ports provide excellent cylinder filling efficiency.

Single over head cam shaft is designed to provide good low and mid rpm torque. The conventional rocker arm design means fast, easy valve clearance adjustments.

Ceramic composite cylinder wall plating on the lightweight aluminium cylinder helps dissipate heat more efficiently, reduces friction for improved performance, reduces weight, improves durability and increases cylinder service life.

74mm lightweight forged piston provides fast throttle response and excellent durability.

Newly designed lightweight ball bearing mounted crankshaft.

Internal engine counterbalancer reduces engine vibration.

Multi plate wet type clutch with special "judder spring is utilized.

Easy access paper type oil filter.

Maintenance-free CDI ignition.

New MV 33mm constant velocity carb.

2.8 litre airbox is located under the seat and utilizes an viscous (paper type) air filter.

Wide-ratio, 5-speed transmission and manual clutch are well suited to the engine output.

All new steel exhaust system with heat shields on both the header pipe and muffler protect both rider and passenger from accidental contact. Exhaust note is quiet and environmentally friendly.

A US Forestry approved spark arrestor protects Mother Nature.

Air Induction System (AIS) injects fresh oxygen at the exhaust port to insure complete combustion thereby reducing harmful hydro carbon and carbon monoxide (HC & CO) exhaust emissions. The 2008 XT250 easily meets the EPA emission standards.

All new, semi-double cradle steel frame and an overall dry weight of only 123kg (270.6 lb), makes the XT250 one of the lightest, most compact dual purpose machines on the market.

Rugged, box section steel swingarm fitted with easy-to-use eccentric chain adjusters

35mm KYB fork with 225mm (8.9") of wheel travel soaks up the rough stuff, both on-road and off. Rubber boots protect seals and tubes from dirt and grit damage.

Lightweight aluminium lower triple clamp enhances suspension performance.

Link Monocross rear suspension features an adjustable shock.

Adjustments include spring preload. Rear wheel travel is 180mm (7.1")

Low seat height of 810mm (31.9") creates a low centre of gravity for added manoeuvrability and inspires confidence by allowing most riders to put both feet firmly on the ground.

285mm (11.2") of ground clearance enhances terrain ability.

New 245mm front disc brake with twin piston Nissin caliper.

New 203mm rear disc brake is squeezed by a single piston Nissin caliper with rugged plastic calliper protector and an integrated (or 1 piece) rear master cylinder.

New design, rugged steel 9.8 litre fuel tank means lots if miles and smiles between fill ups.

21" front and 18" rear lightweight DID alloy wheels are extremely durable and reduce unsprung weight for enhanced suspension performance.

Long, YZ-style seat creates a balanced riding position and provides roomy comfort for both rider and passenger. The seat features a "gripper style" seat cover.

Durable, plastic fenders keep mud and dirt off the rider when taking one's exploring off-road.

Frame-mounted passenger footpegs provide two-up riding capability.

Powerful, 60/55-watt, enduro-style, halogen headlight

Small fairing reduces wind buffeting at highway speeds and provides added protection against weather and mud.

All new digital instrumentation includes: speedometer, odometer, dual tripmeters, a clock as well as various warning lights.

Serrated, folding steel footpegs

Folding gear shift and rear brake lever

Steering and helmet locks

Locking fuel cap

Convenient passenger hand rails

Durable "O" ring chain

Easy-to-use, frame-mounted choke knob

Dependable, low-maintenance, sealed battery

Flexible turn signals

Easy-to-use, push-to-cancel turn signals

Rubber boots on brake and clutch levers help reduce mud and dirt damage.

On/off/reserve fuel petcock for peace of mind

Rugged, plastic rear chain guide

About www.motorcyclists-online.com English version:
At the beginning, in 2001, www.motorcyclists-online.com was an exclusive French Motorcycle website. Now, since September 2005, it has become bilingual: English speaking people are welcome !
We do believe, at www.motorcyclists-online.com, that linguistic boundaries are not a problem when we share the same passion for bikes.
We are currently working on translating all articles and contents, to finish the UK/US version. You will certainly notice some bugs or translation errors: please do not hesitate to advise us by e-mail, Private Message or by posting in the Forum. Your help is welcome !
For the moment, articles which haven’t been human translated are automatically machine translated, which I must confess is not really famous, but faster than human translators.
