Compact, light and sharpen. An engine with a bore more important than the stroke who makes the engine fly to 16 000 Rpm, thanks to the noble elements of the engine.
With a really high performance electronic componants, the GSX-R 600 is always adapted to its environment, here is a bike who wants to fight against the very tough Yamaha YZF-R6.

Engine :

On paper its kind of classical : 4cylinders in line, liquid cooling, double over head came, four valves, ram air intake, fuel injection.... So What?

So its in details that the GSX-R shows its sporty abilities. Titanium valves with a very small angle with regard to the central cylinder axis, only 10°.
The mix fuel + air comes straight, for a maximum efficient combustion.
The combustion chamber is also new (TSCC) and the new aluminium alloy pistons make climb the compressxion ratio to 12,8/1.
Other evolutions rules out a point where Supersport 600 are weak, the On/OFF behaviour at middle rpm range.

In order to came out of corners easily, gear ratio are now closer, and the crankshaft is now heavier to provide better acceleration but less violent too.
The clutch is also new and feature a slipper system. More pressure on the discs when you accelerate to avoid sliping, and less duriong braking moments to avoid the rear wheel to stop.
For the injection, a ECU 32 bits with 1 024 kb of ROM, integrated to a more compact box feature the digital injection Suzuki Dual Throttle Valve SDTV.
Now the rider can choose whanever he wants between three modes A, B or C (like on the GSX-R 1000 or Hayabusa). The A is a full mode, the B is a softer mode with smooth power and torque, and the C is even smoother for rainy days for exemple.
This system is called Suzuki Drive Mode Sector (S-DMS).

Chassis

The Aluminium frame of the GSX-R 600 is made by only five elements : a steering column extruded, aluminium composite twin-spar and two swingarm stand.
The whole package is now even more rigid than the past model.
The new aluminium swingarm is now fixed to the chassis and the rear damper with a new rocking platform to provide a smoother and more progressive behaviour to the rear suspension.
The rear damper is fully adjustable, and is also featured with a two speed compression setting (fast or slow).
The Showa front fork is also fully adjustable, and is dominated by a new electronic steering damper.
The 2008 model is ...

About www.motorcyclists-online.com English version:
At the beginning, in 2001, www.motorcyclists-online.com was an exclusive French Motorcycle website. Now, since September 2005, it has become bilingual: English speaking people are welcome !
We do believe, at www.motorcyclists-online.com, that linguistic boundaries are not a problem when we share the same passion for bikes.
We are currently working on translating all articles and contents, to finish the UK/US version. You will certainly notice some bugs or translation errors: please do not hesitate to advise us by e-mail, Private Message or by posting in the Forum. Your help is welcome !
For the moment, articles which haven’t been human translated are automatically machine translated, which I must confess is not really famous, but faster than human translators.
