XB12S Lightning:
Essentially the most basic and traditional Buell motorcycle in the line up. Despite the fact it also features a big 1203cc V-twin engine it feels tiny to ride. Very good handling as a direct result of Erik Buell’s mass centralisation efforts. See through air-box cover and fly screen is just cool.

XB12Ss Long:
New for 2007 and as the name suggests longer than the standard S. This involves better space for a pillion passenger and a longer wheel base. When I rode it back to back with the other XB12 models I didn’t like it at all.

I felt it had lost some of the good handling from the XB12S. The Ulysses is the only choice for me if carrying a pillion often.

XB12Scg Low:
The awkward name Scg has been given to the low seat height version of the XB12S. That’s it, a lower seat than the standard XB12S Lightning. It still handles really well, but suits smaller riders. My knees would not stand many miles on the Scg and I don’t understand completely why the low seat version is a model rather than just offering it as an option when buying a new Lightning. See through Air-box cover and fly screen in funky colours is cool.

XB12STT Super TT:
The bigger fuel capacity, taller seat height with aggressive styling and panels ready to be customised makes the Super TT my favourite Buell.

Not as supermoto as others in a growing segment, but who cares when you can add graffiti to the white panels yourself! The supermoto type seat can be swapped for a standard seat that you can carry a pillion on. But then you’ll have to sacrifice the cool number plates.

XB12X Ulysses:
As the name suggests this bike has been made for adventure and not only in Greece! Taller, bigger, more practical and more expensive than the other Buell models.

Despite the fact that it is more expensive than the other Buell models, I think it is better value for money. The Ulysses can do anything.

On the sideline:
The Firebolt model is Buell’s sportsbike if you like with a larger front fairing and aerodynamic rear end. Still a 1203cc V-twin though. Basically an aerodynamic XB12S Lightning and handles like a dream.

XB9SX City-X :
It features the 883cc V-twin developed for Buell and Harley-Davidson’s smallest Sportster models. After the Super TT launch the City-X sails up as the TT’s little brother. Great bike to start your riding on and particularly if you live in the city.

About www.motorcyclists-online.com English version:
At the beginning, in 2001, www.motorcyclists-online.com was an exclusive French Motorcycle website. Now, since September 2005, it has become bilingual: English speaking people are welcome !
We do believe, at www.motorcyclists-online.com, that linguistic boundaries are not a problem when we share the same passion for bikes.
We are currently working on translating all articles and contents, to finish the UK/US version. You will certainly notice some bugs or translation errors: please do not hesitate to advise us by e-mail, Private Message or by posting in the Forum. Your help is welcome !
For the moment, articles which haven’t been human translated are automatically machine translated, which I must confess is not really famous, but faster than human translators.
