 The design of the VN 900 was though by designer « by handdle bar view » and off course externally too. Seat on the saddle the rider notice immediately the elevated front end and the more low rear. The handdle bar narrow, and sportive places the hands higher and more ahead. From an outside view, the light front end and strong rear made an impression of dynamism.
Aesthetic features : -Small and naked front light.  The Lamp iand its frame, bliners and T-square (fork) are chromed. -The light and minimalist mud guard and the protection less front fork also contribute to the design purety of the front end. -The handdle bar is chromed. -The big rear wheel, 15 inches is in opposition with the higher of the front wheel. The fact that it is a full metal wheel give more strength impression. -The big rear tyre 180mm, give also to the rear end a power and massive aspect, renforced by the divide between the front end more light and thin.
Engine :
The Engine is a twin cylinder 903cc and is liquid cooled. Further developped to give more torque at low Rpm, its handling is custom style, not so much power but good torque. It is a cruiser and its performances are suitable to its weight and pretensions.
Its weakness for some of you will be its trumps for some others, in my opinion the look of the VN 900 is better than the VN 2000 for exemple.  The front wheel is very beautiful... This is a cruiser, without big pretensions, and I think it did the half of its way, because it is aesthetically well done.
