First Look : Yamaha TDM 900
Printable Version Written: 29/03/2007 : 15:25. Read 41985 times (35/day).
An atypical bike, with a good engine but not known for his fantastic performances.
A good chassis too, but also, not known for being the best ever (I do not said that it is a bad chassis).
This bike is a good road bike, every day bike, it is good to do everything, we all agree with that.

It is a TDM 900, and nothing else, because it is a very singular road bike. It looks like a roadster mixed with a trail, but in its original way...
The only similarity I found with another bike, is just about the concept, and it is with the Bimota Mantra. But the comparison stops here, because the TDM is more suitable for everyone.
A good definition would be « singular but reached by consensus ».

If we look at the chassis, this bike is well featured, and overall with its R1 brakes, the chassis is lighter but has not much changed.

The engine was a 850cc and now it is a 900cc, with electronic injection.
Some say that the injection makes it lose a little bit of its original blood, but it won a better torque and a more linear power band.
It is a cool bike, with a little more of aggressiveness, particularly with its light face lift.
It is a bike for everyone, easy and good, but the big issue is its price, 8790 € for the basis bike and 9250 € with the ABS.

What is new on the TDM 900 :
-New fairings more thiner,
-Frame more lighter -29%,
-Seat frame could be take down,
-Lighter and wider wheels,
-Fork caster angle + 1°,
-New front fork diam.

43 mm, ajustable,
-Progressive rear suspension fully ajustable,
-Displacement + 48 cm3,
-Power incrasement 5%,
-Weight -11 kg,
-Electronic injection,
-Controlled air box flow,
-Lighter engine parts (piston, piston rod, crankshaft),
-smaller radiator,
-New separeted oil tank,
-Better cklutch and 6 speed gear box,
-Front brakes from the R1,
-New control panel.

About www.motorcyclists-online.com English version:
At the beginning, in 2001, www.motorcyclists-online.com was an exclusive French Motorcycle website. Now, since September 2005, it has become bilingual: English speaking people are welcome !
We do believe, at www.motorcyclists-online.com, that linguistic boundaries are not a problem when we share the same passion for bikes.
We are currently working on translating all articles and contents, to finish the UK/US version. You will certainly notice some bugs or translation errors: please do not hesitate to advise us by e-mail, Private Message or by posting in the Forum. Your help is welcome !
For the moment, articles which haven’t been human translated are automatically machine translated, which I must confess is not really famous, but faster than human translators.
