July Editorial : If Darwin was seeing that!2007-07-03

But, as you can read on our (your) website, the Motorcyclist is a little mistreated in France, and recently we talked about « The absurdity of french Laws ». So, as we have to vote in a couple of months, I Sent an E-mail to the candidates for the Presidence.

I made some research on candidates web sites to find if some of them have a idea, a program for the Motorcyclist's World.
Result, the deep empty space, nothing, nada...
I admit that I was a little annoyed about this unsuccessful « quest », so I decided to send an E-mail, not too technical, but more on the practical side of our expectations and off course in a very polite presentation.
So, here is the exact replica of my E-mail, without the traditional form of address.

« ...I wish to know your projects and intentions about the Motorcyclist's world, and the place that you want to give at the french users of motorcycles if you will become the new French President. And, can you tell your point of view (argued) about the following subjects, they are the most expectations of motorcyclists, scooterists etc...
-VAT at 5,5 % (now 19,6%) on motorcycle protection clothes.
-Better road and city planning like doubled security rails, the end of slippery whites lines or check valves for fuel tanks...

-The abrogation of the Law who limited the engine power (only in France) to 106 HP (opposite with the European directive on freedom of movement of the marchandises and people).

Then for finish, will you be ready to name a « mister motorcycle » in your government who will be in charge of all these questions and be a mediator between motorcyclists and car drivers, and all other road user, in order to have a better administration of the national road network?
Many electors, motorcyclists or not are waiting for your answer who will be broadcasted on our website.

Ahead of time, Thank you. »

I sent this E_mail to ten of our candidates, and it could be utopian to believe in an answer of each of them, even five, honestly I not even expect one...
But Admit that it could be very cool if every candidates answer, in fact it could be a good way to find how they know our tiny little univers...

And, anyway I promise that I will keep you aware of any response from them, even if it's a politeness E-mail.

"Dreamly" yours

Fastfreddy

* Picture translation : French Motorcyclists are not more imatures or idiots than other motorcyclists on earth....
Freedom, equality, unbridled.
French Republic.

Loris-C (27-03-2007): don't be mad at me, but the french get only what they deserve.
arrogance and anger are the way to be french. Moaning all the time and never gettin eared by your politics.
Stop moaning and ACT!

(btw, 106HP a R1 must be funny )

grizzly (27-03-2007): Hi Loris: french arrogance... that's the point
BUT: even California doesn't restrict bikes (it may lead to riots ) ! I can't imagine my ninja restricted: it's a CRIME !

AMARULEZ (27-03-2007): I didn't came here for a long time, and what do I read? Racism...
I'm very disapointed.

French people being allegedly arrogant ISN'T the point.

The point is it's totally NONSENSE to restrict bikes! I WILL NEVER ALLOW ANYONE TO RESTRICT MY FREEDOM NOR MY BIKE

And if I limit your (dreamed)GP6 to 106hp, what will you say...

About www.motorcyclists-online.com English version:
At the beginning, in 2001, www.motorcyclists-online.com was an exclusive French Motorcycle website. Now, since September 2005, it has become bilingual: English speaking people are welcome !
We do believe, at www.motorcyclists-online.com, that linguistic boundaries are not a problem when we share the same passion for bikes.
We are currently working on translating all articles and contents, to finish the UK/US version. You will certainly notice some bugs or translation errors: please do not hesitate to advise us by e-mail, Private Message or by posting in the Forum. Your help is welcome !
For the moment, articles which haven’t been human translated are automatically machine translated, which I must confess is not really famous, but faster than human translators.
