The absolute high point on the KTM stand - and a highlight of INTERMOT 2006 is the entirely newly developed 690 Supermoto. Driven by an all-new single-cylinder engine with 63 hp, reduced vibration, electronic fuel injection, an easy to operate APTC clutch and a new 6-gear transmission, this bike not only sets new benchmarks in terms of top performance, it also represents a strong statement by the KTM brand concerning the single cylinder. The chassis of the 690 also makes no compromises. Thanks to it extremely light weight of only 152 kg, the stable frame, adjustable suspension elements and the high performance brakes, this new single cylinder guarantees unlimited riding pleasure. Numerous high quality details and the unmistakable sporty KTM design all contrive to make this most powerful single cylinder Supermoto of all time “Ready to Race” in the best KTM tradition.
KTM also launches another highlight in the Supermoto segment with a further innovation for the year 2007. At the very apex of the sports-oriented twin-cylinder bikes – and side by side with the successful 950 Supermoto - is now the new 950 Supermoto R. Based on the much acclaimed concept of the rev-powerful twin-cylinder engine and a chassis with outstanding handling characteristics, the “R“ is intended for Supermoto fans who place particular worth on fine and elegant details. The orange colored, lacquered frame provides the perfect contrast for the various black anodized components. The tank of the 950 Superenduro R lends this machine a spectacular and completely individual look.

hotrodktm (11-10-2006): The 950 SM-R, what a beautiful machine. It’s what the 950 should have been orginally! What’s happening with the 990 SuperDuke The 690, it will grow on me... though not as hard-core as my 660SMC!! Cheers, Hotrod

myoung (22-11-2006): The SM 690 looks like a perfact replacement for the Duke II. When will we see it in the USA. KTM designers are the "BEST".
