2007 Kawasaki Z1000: first look (updated)
Printable Version Written: 23/08/2006 : 08:32. Read 23368 times (23/day).
Here is finally the new Z-1000.
Not so much specs, nices pictures, an exhaust that will be as controversial as the four-muffler setup on the original Z1000, and some interesting promises.

Kawasaki's today press release tell us that the Z1000 naked bike is totally redesigned for 2007 with a new engine and new chassis which seems to feature many sportbike-quality components.

Not so many details about the engine, which offers more torque and more power, but we think it is a retuned version of the ZX10R engine. Well wich ZX10R? the new one or the first one, as soon as we know, you know...

The new chassis is aluminum and appears to look very similar to the monocoque design we found on the ZX-14, which means it is light and rigid.

Kawasaki gives us also few details about suspensions, but the Showa USD fork is similar to the one we found on ZX-6R and ZX-10R sportbikes, as are the radial mounted calipers and the wavy rotors.

The restyling is really good, while the new Z1000 is clearly a Z1000 (small fairing/headlight and tailsection), we have some sporty element like the small side shrouds with the turn lights.

At last, there is new echaust...

well, don't be affraid of it, you will certainly be able to change it as soon as you but the bike. Kawasaki managed (I really didn't imagine if was possible) to make a dual-pipe, quad-outlet exhaust way more awfull than the original four-muffler setup...

In short: more rigid, lighter, more power and more torque, what may we ask more?

Update: specifications guessing:
Displacment: 953 cc
Power: 92 kW/125 CV @ 10,000 tr/min
Torque: 9,87 DaNm @ 8,200 tr/min
Bore x stroke: 77,2 x 50,9 mm
Compression Ratio: 11,2:1
Transmission Type: 6-speed

About www.motorcyclists-online.com English version:
At the beginning, in 2001, www.motorcyclists-online.com was an exclusive French Motorcycle website. Now, since September 2005, it has become bilingual: English speaking people are welcome !
We do believe, at www.motorcyclists-online.com, that linguistic boundaries are not a problem when we share the same passion for bikes.
We are currently working on translating all articles and contents, to finish the UK/US version. You will certainly notice some bugs or translation errors: please do not hesitate to advise us by e-mail, Private Message or by posting in the Forum. Your help is welcome !
For the moment, articles which haven’t been human translated are automatically machine translated, which I must confess is not really famous, but faster than human translators.
